FAQ: Multi-Chain Shared Address Deposit Support

Announcement Date: January 5, 2022
Chains Supported: ETH / BSC / HECO / ETC / AVAXC / MATIC / ATP / ARBITRUM_ETH / RBTC / CHZ / ETHW / AURORA_ETH / OPT_ETH / TOMO / FTM / CRO / CMT

1. What is the "Shared Address Deposit" Feature?

This feature enables users to deposit assets from multiple supported chains into the same address.
Cobo Custody will automatically detect the originating chain of the deposit and credit the funds to the corresponding wallet.
Transaction records, callback messages, and system push notifications will remain functional and unaffected.

2. Which Chains Are Supported?

The following chains currently support shared address deposit:

  • ETH (Ethereum)

  • BSC (Binance Smart Chain)

  • HECO (Huobi ECO Chain)

  • ETC (Ethereum Classic)

  • AVAXC (Avalanche C-Chain)

  • MATIC (Polygon)

  • ATP (Alaya)

  • ARBITRUM_ETH (Arbitrum)

  • RBTC (RSK)

  • CHZ (Chiliz)

  • ETHW (EthereumPoW)

  • AURORA_ETH (Aurora)

  • OPT_ETH (Optimism)

  • TOMO (TomoChain)

  • SONIC_S (Previous FTM)

  • CRO (Cronos)

  • CMT (CyberMiles)

3. What Are the Benefits for Clients?

  • Minimizes risk of asset loss due to deposits on the wrong chain

  • Simplifies address management across multiple chains

  • Ensures normal transaction recording and callback processing

4. Will Deposits Sent to the Wrong Chain Address Still Be Credited?

Yes. As long as the chain is one of the supported ones, Cobo Custody will detect the correct chain and automatically credit the corresponding wallet—even if the user deposited a token from one chain to another chain’s address (e.g., depositing BSC_BNB to an ETH address).

5. What Must Clients Do on Their Side?

Clients must ensure their backend systems are properly configured to process callback messages triggered by cross-chain shared address deposits, so that the deposit can be automatically credited to their end users accordingly.

6. Will Manual Support Still Be Provided for Mistaken Chain Deposits?

No. Going forward, Cobo Custody will no longer manually process mistaken deposits between the following chains:

  • ETH

  • BSC

  • HECO

  • ETC

  • AVAXC

  • MATIC

Please remind your end users to always select the correct chain when initiating deposits, even though a shared address can now receive assets from multiple chains.

7. Who Can I Contact for Additional Questions?

If you have further questions or require technical support, please contact the Cobo Custody team for assistance.
